Wipe-on vs brush-on polyurethane
Wiped coats are thin, and the makers’ coverage shows it: Watco prints 50–100 sq ft per quart for its Wipe-On Poly, Minwax 125 per quart for its brush-on Fast-Drying Polyurethane. Watco recommends three coats, 4–6 hours apart; Minwax recommends three coats for the most durability, 3–4 hours apart.
Rust-Oleum lists Watco Wipe-On Poly for interior furniture and intricate wood items, and not for floors or exterior wood.
