Finish troubleshooter · Texture in the coat
Brush marks in polyurethane
Ridges or streaks from the brush stay in the dried coat instead of leveling out.
Likely causes
The causes the most sources give come first.
How to tell which
None of the sources we read says how to tell these causes apart. Check each one against how you finished the piece.
The fix
Next time
Keep a wet edge, so each pass blends into the last before it sets.
Lay on a full, wet coat with the grain in long, even strokes, and leave it to level.
